Kurdish party visits TDP
-

A delegation from Turkey’s Democratic Society Party – DTP is in Northern Cyprus this week on a fact finding mission.

The DTP MP Sabahat Tuncel visited the Social Democracy Party (TDP) Leader Mehmet Çakıcı. Speaking during the visit, Mrs Tuncel said that the Cyprus issue has been on the agenda of the world and Turkey for years and expressed the view that the non-solution of the problem was causing serious problems for the peoples living in Cyprus.

Expressing the view that the Cyprus issue would only be solved by the peoples on the island, she said learning the views of the political parties in northern Cyprus on the Cyprus issue will help them to draw a clearer picture of the Cyprus issue.

Also speaking, the leader of the TDP Mehmet Cakici said that the aim of the Cyprus negotiation process was to create a federal Cyprus on the basis of a bi-communal bi-zonal order and political equality but expressed his party’s disappointment over the failure to reach a conclusion at the talks.

He noted that establishing cooperation with Turkish political parties supporting a solution would be useful.
